Madrasa Arabia Qurania
Etawah city is situated on the bank of Yamuna River in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is the administrative headquarter of Etawah District. The city was an important center for the Revolt of 1857 (Allan Octavian Hume, the founder of Indian National Congress was district collector then). Also it is the sangam or confluence of Yamuna and Chambal. It is also the site of the remains of the Great Hedge of India.
Etawah was a town and district of British India, in the Agra division of the United Provinces. The town is situated on the left bank of the Yamuna, and has a station on the Indian Railway (Northern Zone), 386 km from Allahabad. Deep fissures intersect the various quarters of the town, over which broad roads connect the higher portions by bridges and embankments. Considerable trade is carried on by rail (Delhi-Howrah line) National Highway No.-2 (Mughal Road), Agra-Lucknow Expressway and river. District headquarter is also connected with Etawah-Gwalior-Guna, Etawah-Agra via Bah-Bateshwar & Etawah-Mainpuri Railway Route.
The district of Etawah lies in the south western portion of Uttar Pradesh 26° 47" north latitude and 72° 20" east longitude and forms a part of the Kanpur Division. In shape it is a parallelogram with a length from north to south 70 km. and East to west 66 km. on one side and 24 km. on the other side. It is bounded on the north by the districts of Farrukhabad and Mainpuri, while the small extent of western border adjoins tehsil Bah of the Agra district. The eastern frontier matches with the district of Auraiya, and along the south lay Jalaun and the Bhind District of Madhya Pradesh, the division line being, except for a short distance, the Chambal and Yamuna rivers. The total area in 1999 was calculated to be 2434 km
The district exhibits a striking variety of surface and scenery. The greater portion lies within the Doab or level alluvial plain between the Ganges and the Yamuna. This part falls naturally into two sections, divided by the deep and fissured valley of the river Sengar.
The tract to the north-east of that stream is rich and fertile, being watered by the Kanpur and Etawah branches of the Ganges canal, and other important works. The south-western region has the same natural advantages, but possesses no great irrigation system, and is consequently less fruitful than the opposite slopes. Near the banks of the Yamuna, the plain descends into the river valley by a series of wild ravines and terraces, inhabited only by a scattered race of hereditary herdsmen. Beyond the Yamuna, a strip of land extends along the tangled gorges of the Chambal and the Kuwari Nadi, far into the borders of the Gwalior state. This outlying tract embraces a series of rocky glens and mountain torrents, crowned by the ruins of native strongholds, and interspersed with narrow ledges of cultivable alluvium. The climate, once hot and sultry, has now become comparatively moist and equable under the influence of irrigation and the planting of trees.
Etawah is also having a strong history of Urdu Literature. Various Writers, Poets & Educationist were born and brought up in this city .Famous Urdu writer Meer Ata Husain Tahseen Etawi, author of Nau Tarz-e-Murassa, famous educationist Nawab Muhsin-ul-Mulk Syed Mehdi Ali, former Secretary of Muslim Educational Conference & MAO College Aligarh and well known Sufi Poet Bedam Shah Warsi, were also born in Etawah.
About Society
Etawah and the nearby areas of the District are considered backward in educational field, where the social, political and financial position of Muslims is yet to be paid attention. The villages here are lacking literacy and having less knowledge of religion. The condition of Muslims is so critical that the funerals are done without ‘Namaz-e-Janazah’ as they do not know the rituals in correct form and when a religious-looking person comes, the Namaz is performed by him on the grave. The older age people are unaware of ‘Kailma-e-Tayyibah'; their living style and their names are also like non-Muslims. Besides these, they are financially backward. As a result, other misled sects want to take them away from the path of Islam.
It is a well-known and established fact that has been experienced and witnessed through the ages that only those nations were respected and considered developed, who acquired knowledge irrespective of their cast, creed, color, race and religion. And those who failed to do so, remained weak and were ruled and made slaves by the others.
By the grace of Almighty Allah, Muslim Taleemi Society (registered under S. R. Act No. 21 of 1860) was constituted in 1977 by Eminent Islamic Scholar, Social Reformer & Thinker Mufakkir-e-Millat Hazrat Maulana Alhaj Sheikh Fida Husain sb. (Rah.) to Establish & Manage Educational, Cultural, Religious, Functional, Industrial, Vocational, Technical & Medical Institutions, libraries & hostels for moral, spiritual, social & educational upliftment of the community. The society aimed at liberating the common people specially Muslims from the clutches of illiteracy and helping to pave the way for the formation of educated, cultured and polished society and forming an atmosphere of brotherhood, fraternity, love, integrity and solidarity among the followers of various religion and beliefs, leaving aside the caste, color and race. It has tried its level best to put up a crystal clear picture of Islam and its teachings before the Muslims in particular and people of other religion in general. The eminent Islamic thinker & Scholar Mufakkir-e-Islam Hazrat Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi (Rah.) advised the Muslims; “So far as Muslims are concerned, religious education and basic knowledge of Islam is indispensable for them, as air and water for human beings.”
Keeping in view the above facts, study of the Holy Quran, Islamic studies and training in Islamic principles form an integral part of the curriculum besides English, Hindi, Urdu, Mathematics, General Science, Social Studies, General Knowledge and Computer Studies in all the institutions of the society.
Through these institutions, by the grace of Almighty Allah, Muslim Taleemi Society provides Islamic & modern education with Islamic perspectives to the large number of students with limited resources and numerous problems, it seems an uphill task, particularly at Etawah where socio-economic problems are at its peak to over come the difficulties and fulfil the above cited goods.
